Site Promotions : What works and what does not !
1. Search Engines ( WORKS ) - Search Engines are the most popular way that the average web surfer will find what they are looking for online. Meta Tags and Keywords in you written text are key to search engine positioning. Do not SPAM the search engine, they don’t really like that much. Visit http://www.searchenginewatch.com for tools that can help you learn how to beat the engines.
2. Link Directories ( WORKS ) - Yahoo and DMOZ are the most important directories to get into. They are tough though - There are books written on how to get into Yahoo. That is crazy, A former site I created and promoted was submitted by the rules to Yahoo for 7 months before it was added. But believe me - It pays off. Traffic doubled overnight. As far as small directories are concerned. They are also just as important, because they help your link popularity.( A key ingriedient for search engine ranking ).
3. Banner Exhanges ( WORKS SORTA ) - Banner exchanges were a unique way of sharing traffic, but they are not as popular now due to the surfers reluctance to click banners. But they should not be overlooked. One great new banner exchange out that pays credits out like a Multi Level Scheme is taking the net by storm ... Go-Banner.

5. FFA Pages - ( DOES NOT WORK ) - They are a descent way of getting 1000’s of unwanted emails shoving offers of MLM success down your throat. Other than hosting an FFA page to do this dirty deed to others, they can slightly help your Link Popularity.
6. Click Thru Programs - ( WORKS ) - These programs work but the quality of traffic is not all that great. If you are pushing MLM’s and Money Programs they can get the attention of the surfer that is just clicking and clicking to rack up credits for their own site exposure. There are a few good programs, but the only one I can stand to use is ClickThru.net. This one has more halfway descent sites, such as this one, listed.
7. Top Site Lists - ( WORKS ) These programs are a great way to get traffic. The concept is simple. You signup to a topsite list that caters to you type of site. They give you a voting code and you place it on your site. Everytime someone clicks that button/code you will get a vote. The more votes the higher you are ranked.
